Herring!

A quick and mostly messy sketchdump. Been pulling alternating 24 hour days due to the newfound time gifted oh so generously by sir insomnia, who is threatening me with a pickled herring as we speak..unfortunate for him I like pickled herring (Its my secret shame, only not to secret now). So I've been sketching mostly since painting requires a less lucid state of mind..most of the time.



First icon for wicked_sairah I love your dog..prolly the only one crazy enough to say that eh?



Next a couple pictures for nanook123 who I've been missing for months. Rotten time difference.
Rough quick unfinished sketch of her character Camaro.

Pretty self explanatory that one. Been meaning to draw a cougari badge for a while but everytime I tried Cougari would run and hide from my pencil.

smooosh..I really hate this sketch XD.

Next a few rather similar concepts for Califur stuffs, most of which I've discarded. Humm I really don't draw nearly enough sinister figures and so the 'villains' theme is really kicking my tail but at the same time forcing me to face the challenge of something different..and that is rather exhilerating.

discarded femme fox. It was going to be a play on the story of little Red riding hood where the wolf is typically the villain, only I thought it might be interesting to switch roles. Alas the idea just wasn't panning out for me.

Another discarded picture. Most of these sketches are rough and dirty mostly because I see the color more vividly and thats hard to convey in pencil

Another idea, I like this one better and will likely color it. The concept is more clear in my mind as I see it in color and with a more cohesive composition.

And a little bit of random:

First concept for a painting, again not much to look at in pencil.

Another wolf..ugh I have this vivid picture of a wolf in an autumn forest littered with leaves. He is climbing down the side of a hill with protruding flat stones emitting a soft blue light. BUT for the life of me I can't get the pose to work as I see it in my head. If someone wants to redline the pose I'd be greatful..sometimes a second fresh perspective really helps you find the way.(mind you the rest of the sketch is full of mistakes but I see them already and will fix them)


the cleaned up concept from above. the wolf would be the weaver of dreams and the owl the one that delivers them.


ehm..I dunno where it came from. I had a 3x4 inch sliver of paper and this just flew out on it. His tongue is licking a pane of glass or somefin.

And finally I blame hibbary for planting the seed of snow owl arctic fox grphons in my brain. This little fella just flopped out of my pencil. Unfortunately he got smooshed on the very bottom of a page and so he kinda looks ducklegged because I had to make him fit. I really ought to just start drawing dead center on every page..but I doubt I will learn.

I know that my knowledge of anatomy never will reach your level, but at least I can try to help you out. It is a lot easier to spot mistakes than try to not make them oneslef. Sadly.

The sketch of the wolf which you wanted to place in an autumny setting, it can probably be helped with just a few simple things:
Try to make his/her right back leg even less visible, i.e. place it closer to the wolf's body, making less of it be seen. The wolf's left back leg should be placed a little further down, so that the knee instead of pointing outward is pointing more to the horizontal bottom of the picture. Also, the Achilles' tendon is a little too evident. Consider it, if the foot is bent in such a way, would that tendon be as portrouding?

Just a few suggestions, probably not worth anything. It is tjhe thought which matters. I would really like to see you being content with the picture as I think it is a very appealing and interesting subject ^^

I think I'm actually the only person that doesn't like that dog. XD Ha ha! I think it was because he liked to bite when he was younger and his claws hurt so I got into the habit of wanting him to stay away from me. x_x I have some good memories of him, though.

I really like the drawing of the foxy with the evil wolfy guy in the background. ^_^

yar I was aware of the pic as I drew it..the idea...more the colors and atmosphere of what the finished painting would look like have been stuck in my head for months...but any pose that I've drawn just comes out wrong..or well ahem as you mentioned. It isn't intentional and its another reason I'm asking for help..but..chances are I will just scrap it.

Hmm. I agree that the wolf pose is very similar to that picture by goldenwolf. But honestly, i like your pose better. it seems to flow better and have a bit better proportions in the hips and face, to me.

Not that it matters at all to me. Goldies fan's might be rabid, but some things i've read that goldie's posted not too long ago make me think -she's- not quite so bad.

The shiba inu is adorable. My fave is the 6th one up. the big bad wolf and red riding hood. love red's expression and twisty hood.

well I think my wolf is less were-ish than Goldie's works..I just can't seem to accomplish that sort of were hybrid that some of the greats pull off qith such elegance. Can't say I don't envy em ;)..but at the sametime I'm happy to pronounce myself a fan...and not based on their other fan following but purely on the merit and beauty of their works.

I'm not much on heresay myself..but if I may ask..what was it that she said that made you think? Curiosity will kill this cat one day ;).

Gods, I love when you sketchdump. As much as I love seeing in color, there's something so passionate and raw about a sketch.

Also, just wanted to comment to watch out when you release the finished pic of the wolfy crawling down. :/ I just know that someone is going to take a fit and claim you stole that idea from Goldenwolfen. (It's actually the painting which has apparently sold for the most of any furry art.)
