Well there were a few commissions I really took forever on and I feel quite horrid about it. I have never been grand at drawing equines but for whatever reason I was struck with the mood. This is a way overdue sketchbook commission for [livejournal.com profile] firesplace of her character. Since it took me so long to get it done, I threw on some extra detail/shading work on it. Hope ya like it :).

Are you kidding?

That is a really rather gorgeous equine! There's something nooot quite right with her, but that's just a tiny nitpick.

The pose, the textures, the shading, everything is utterly gorgeous ♥

Also, hi person with an awesome sense for design. Do you think you could have a look at this and say which design you like best? Whenever you have time? :D

H...how D:

Aaah your trad media is simply too awesome. This is pencil, right? How do you make it look so milky and yet... dense at the same time? The liquidy look just kills me. *ded*

well basically I first start with a very light outlining of the whole sketch..which in itself is hard for me since im used to pressing into paper hard with pencil..but then I loosely shade in the sketch..first layer will be a bit thin..then I use a q-tip to blend it O_o..and actually once the q-tip head gets really black from all the graphite...then you can use it to add muted shadows here and there. Well anyway I just continue to layer the shadows on..working them in slowly until they become more concrete and bold where I need them to be...and last step outline the whole sketch with a pencil..this time making the lines more pronounced.

That's sorta how I do my pencil drawings too^^

Hahaha, I have never seen a q tip used like that! (Then again, my experience with trad media is limited to say the least)

It sounds like a useful technique... even better, it sounds fun. I'm going to try it sometime :D thanks for the long explanation!

my experience with traditional media is limited..I started traditional media and went to digital later and kinda havent done much traditional since then..but now Im getting back into the habit.

As for the q-tip..my art teacher's mind was actually blown too when he saw me using it. I don't remember who suggested it to me first but they work better than tortillons O_o..and you can get very smooth effects with something as common as a q-tip...

'Not good with equines'--Pfft! =P You honestly don't give yourself enough credit, Balaa, dear. (_~) I love how the linework just seems to flow from her horn all the way down to the end of her tail. Very lovely! And I'm loving all the Elvish/L.o.t.R. inspired themes going on in a lot of your sketches lately, as well! =D

Balaa your horses (well... or unicorns xD) have always been beeeeeeeeeeautiful! don't you ever doubt that for a second! :) Beautiful pose, she looks pretty and shy - the drapery is gracefully done as is all the mane and hair; always loved the way you draw hair - so dreamy and flowy. ^^

I don't believe I've actually ever seen any of your horse drawings before...but now that I have, I'm very much amazed! @_@ She looks absolutely lovely Balaa! What I really adore is her mane and tail. :) They're so...flowly looking and beautiful. I've always found it difficult to convincingly place a horses head and neck onto a human body. You've done it marvelously well though! Keep up the great work! =D

heheh the neck/torso meshing could use some work..horsie muscles throw me off a bit..but it was fun nonetheless :D.

I think it looks perfect the way you did it! :D Horse anatomy in general throws me for a loop. =3=" Especially the heads. I can't draw a horse head worth beans...lima beans to be exact!

Uhh...I should probably stop talking about beans now, right? Right. XD

Hey there little cat type friend!

Hows it going with you and your family? Just thought I would ask! I like to know how all my buds are doing in this great big silly world!

Mayn you really are hard on yourself friend? I do not see what you are complaining about! This is one of the best examples of eqine art I have seen out there! I know beacuse I am one who adores equines! You did a most wonderful job on her to say the least! With that being said could you please let me know when you would have an opening for comissions again! I would love to have your uber talented self draw my dragon character as and anthro, and I would also like to have you draw my horse character! If you nedd the descriptions of either one again please let me know!

Well friend have a most excellent day, and please stop being such a harsh judge on yourself! You and your family take care always! God bless and keep you all safe and happy always!***Gives you a warm friendly hug and says, "My but arnt you one talented artist my little Ligeress friend!"***

*hugs the massive purple maned dragon* I still owe ya a hercules/sandboa sketch don't I XD??. Well t'will be a good excuse to watch hercules again..been stuck on Xena for the last..month or so.

Thank you as always for the comment..sometimes I am so afraid people will see the mistakes I see over the good things about any picture I do..sometimes its really nice to hear that I am being a bit paranoid. So thank you again..just an overly big critic of my own work..but in that same respect..at least being hard on my work forces me to improve :).

I hope life is treating you better, read in your journal that you liked your new job..I'm glad to hear that, I know things were pretty hard on you for a long while there. I hope things just keep getting better and better for you!

This is such a scandelous picture that I had to break out my porn icon, ;)

Seriously though, your real media is easily my favorite of all the stuff you do. The detail in this--especially the hair--is amazing. Your real media sketches have this fantastic feel of realism meshed with art nouveau. I can't imagine firesplace not loving this.

it depends on what ya are looking for I think. I am trying to not take absolutely huge commissions before AC so I don't have to keep folks waiting. I am more than happy to hear your idea out..if you would rather tell me via e-mail it's xxbalaaxx@yahoo.com ...otherwise here is just fine :).

Well it would be a color picture. Basicly it would be myself as a lion, non-morphic, laying and looking at the camera. My paws would be folded and resting on top of an ammo can and there would be a GPS unit eithor hanging around the neck or near the can.

This would be a picture for Geocaching, and probably also simplifed as an image for a geocoin.
