I found something new to obsess over

Im a part of the totem cards project and one of the cards I am to illustrate is to depict saber toothed cats. Needless to say when I heard that my responce was a long lived giddy, and might I add girly, squeel of joy.
Oddly enough Ive been watching a lot of 'walking with prehistoric animals" sort of documentaries and I always loved them. And I love seeing people's interpretations of the animals markings and such...which really we can only guess at with the help of modern scientific facts..and of course 'freedom of interpretation' is an artist's paradise.
and..and..and..they are KITTIES! SO I may well be drawing a lot more of them even outside the project, simply as an excuse to draw yet more felines..which remain my passion. *dives into google to sniff out more info on our long toothed friends of long ago* WEEEEEEEEEE
I have also been invited to join another 'bestiary card' sort of project depicting, instead of wild animals, breeds of dogs...Given the fact that I grew up around dogs and spent 5 years of my life living and breathing dog fur at a grooming shop, that's right up my alley. I haven't heard back from them since the invite but hopefully I will be a part of the project as I havent really been part of too many portfolios. It is a nice chance to expand my artistic horizons...and have fun doodlings all kinds of stuffs!

My concept..which may well change still as I gather more information and different piccies of collected skulls and what have you.

also another update on my wild dogs. Erf I have come to realize I am absolutely hopeless when it comes to human anatomy, especially female anatomy ;)..go figure..I'm a woman yet I am clueless as how to draw my own err kind. BUT at least I am just plain having fun with the picture :) and its given me an excuse to push myself to learn canine anatomy.
Thats all for this morning. Now to make a pitiful attempt to sleep.
A shoutout to baggy and Nanook..I miiisssss ooocciiinnggg with chooo. Also reminds me I need to oc with Goldenrod fox *pokes at him*

Todd got really sick yesterday, so I spent my day freaking out about what to do. He seems better right now at... 6 in the morning. lol So because of that, I fell asleep at 8pm last night. haha
That dog set sounds so cool! I wish I could freakin' draw! I'll just settle for the sculpting thing though. lol
BTW, I have something special for yyooooouuuu....
The Saber toothed cats look great so far! And the Wild Dogs look amazing! Ben told me yesterday he's going to ask you to teach me how to do that. lol I think I should stick to the clay though. ;)
Take care and e-mail/call me soon! *hugs*

Date: 2006-02-13 03:19 pm (UTC)Heya little cat!
Date: 2006-02-13 04:03 pm (UTC)I must say your work is as awesome as always! Just one thing I noticed about the wild dogs. The female in the forground seems to have a problem with her arm. I do not no if it was intentional or not but it appears the arm is a might skinny. No muscle on it. It looks like something that you would see after the arm has sufferd a sever injury and is now crippled. Just an observation not being critcal mind you. Why would I criticize such awesome work!
Anyhow how have you been? I hope all is going well for you and your mate. Take care always little friend! I will keep you and yours in my prayers always! God bless and keep you and yours safe and happy always! ***Gives you a great big friendly hug and nuzzle and says, "I would love to chat with you sometime little friend!"***

I ever had! Have an excellent day friend! You and yours take care always. ***Hugs and snuggs to ya. Gently puts a paw up to help his friend steady herself!***

Date: 2006-02-14 12:33 am (UTC)The wild dogs look great to me! I really dig how the light shines off their fur. Preeeeeeety! =3 I love drawing female anatomy...it's the male anatomy that bugs the heck out of me! They're not as curvacious or as balanced out as a female body is, so it's more dificult for me to draw. But, still, practice makes perfect. :)

Beautiful wild dogs by the way. I love that little "kerplut" look the back one seems to have as its head is rested on the other's.
Sorry for sounding all sporadic. x.x; I'm quite drugged up on cold medicine.
