random thoughts at idle
Aug. 12th, 2005 01:41 amJames is doing his thing tonight so im doin mine and having some fun with my art.
In latest news I am really trying to start moving on the Kalahari Studios idea. Thankfully I have a grand pair of coconspirators, Nanook123 and Hibbary. Currently Im working on coloring a sketch she did of what so far is just called the Kalahari Cat. Girl you blow me away with your talent...if all goes well it may be done tonight.
Other than that I have been thinking at random about my friends and who they are. I have never been known to have that many friends in life..though recently I have started to make some new friendships. I find, however, that the word 'friend' is over used and abused. I wonder sometimes if we really know anymore, the true meaning of that word.
so here are a few random thoughts on friendship and what it means to me.
This is what makes a person a friend to me:
1. a person that first and foremost thinks for themselves and doesn't just blindly nod to everything I say
2. A person that is willing to stand up and say that they don't agree with me. I respect that in a person, we are not all carbon copies and cannot be expected to have all the same beliefs..be it religion..politics or what have you.
3. A person that knows when to say a word of encouragement to me or someone else who needs it.
4. A person that is willing to tell me when I am being paranoid or seeing things that arent there.
5. Someone that tries to look on the positive in life and as such helps carry me through with their smiles. Id much rather be around someone that tries to find the good in things rather than the negative...though naturally we all have our down times...Im referring more to the majority.
6. A person that shares their heart and mind. I respect a person that is secure enough in themselves to share their ideas/beliefs what have you.
7. A person that doesn't let people give up.
8. A person that helps their fellow man up when they are down, putting aside any grudges of the past to help even the person they consider their enemy. This takes a big person.
9. A person that is the bigger person in a fight and knows when losing a friendship is not worth winning a squabble. Thats not to say you dont stand up for yourself...but rather know when nothing good will come of the fight. Ive fought with people over religion and nearly lost friends over it, good friends...but I knew in the end...we could still be friends and be ourselves as long as we kept certain topics out of the lime light. And because of it, I think we grew as people and friends.
10. simply....a person that goes out of their way to make someone smile.
In all the people I consider my friends, I find these traits pop up over and over. To each person friendship has different parameters..these are just some of mine.
*luff to all*
